The White Hands campaign warns from the increasing unemployment faced by women. ● The first three Arab women  run for presidency in their courtiers ● Technical processes of shooting the first of the TV programs of the campaign   The Distinguished Woman is taking place. ● The White Hands campaign ambassador has received feedback from associations and women organizations to support the campaign and they all have announced their membership.● More than 6000 requests have reached to the campaign's administration to qualify for the "Distinguished Woman" program and from all over the Arab World. ● The White Hands campaign ambassador is getting ready to meet the Special Adviser of the Secretary-General on Gender Issues with her delegation in New York. ● 65   TV channels have joined to support the White Hands campaign as partners in defending women issues ● The poet Kareem Al-Iraqi is writing a poem to support the objective of the campaign and it has been decided to showcase his work to the singer Majda Al Roomi to sing it. ● The ambassador of the White Hands campaign Rihab Zein El Den announces that the positive feedback she received have topped her expectations. ● There are 9 million Arab children that do not join elementary school, and 45 percent of the population does not attend high school. ● 90 years have passed since forming the first women union in the Arab World. ● The White Hands camping emphasizes on the guarantee of women rights in education and employment. ● Arab women only get 30 percent from the total job opportunities. ● The White Hands campaign starts with a communication campaign to contact Arab women organizations. ● Discrimination against women takes place in all of the Arab countries.












To invest in the media

Women News Agency (W.N.N)

No one can argue that media in this communication era is the lead player in events. Media does not only lead major transformations but also frame the human social orientations regarding important issues and cases that require a public opinion stance; this is due to the proliferation of "emails" and its information content.

Everyone can agree that the most outstanding "weapon," in this era is the media in addition to the hi-tech features that provide a greater space and speed to the proliferation of information; after all, information is the soul of media, and its weapon in formulating convictions and opinions regarding stances and stands the need to be taken.

 

We in the Arab Producers Union for TV (APUTV), and as specialist in this field, we see that each person with an issue or a case needing to channel it through the right course of influence, he or she has to choose and utilize the media, and this is exactly what APUTV has done, launching " The White Hands Campaign for a Media Geared Towards Women".

With our full capacities mobilized to invest in a media catered towards women issues, we have launched grand projects, including visual, print and audio media projects, such as the Women News Network (W.N.N) specializing in women news. As our campaign research and planning team has pointed out to a conspicuous feature happening in the Arab media, that the broadcasting of women issues items do not take its suitable space and met with only limited news bulletins and information relating to women and their issues. And since information is the soul of the media work and its means of influence, we have decided to combat such shortage of information and to launch W.N.N.

W.N.N. is the first Arabic news agency specialized in women news, and we hope that launching the news agency to flow without any halt, and to service the all of the media mediums (audio, print and visual) with reports, photographs and TV pictures and news without any material fees, and to provide the opportunity to media personals and whoever interested in women issues to view it and to benefit from it to their media, academic or research works.

The Idea: 

The news agency will be broadcasted for 24 hours without any stop, and through its website a specialized technical cadre has been assigned to work beside the professional editorial team.  The editorial section will obviously edit from what it receives from its reporters located in all of the Arabic countries, and they too work as coordinators in the First Ladies offices. Also, the editorial team will receive reports, news and information from women organizations and institutions, and activist in all of the Arabic countries and in places Arabic women activities are witnessed.

The agency also believes in broadcasting news and TV reports besides pictures and photographs that can be of benefit to newspapers and magazines, also freedom will be fully given to such material to be used through TV and radio stations, news papers, magazines and whatever is for the service of women, it is free only with the indication of its source.

Objective:

In addition to what have been previously mentioned, the W.N.N. works to achieve:

Ø The guaranteed flow of information and news related to women issues and their activities in all of the fields.

Ø The provision of free usage of such information to support women issues through the different media mediums, also to benefit research centers, organizations and institutions interested in women issues, and to include people as a whole.

An increased intellectual and social awareness among citizens by reflecting on women issues, and to provide the channels for women progress in all of the fields so activists, individuals and institutions can priorities what needs to be done and plan for women advancement, also to help them put forth such plans for what the agency will have from necessary and detailed information.
